Paloma Yanez
Teacher, Primary
In addition to having four children of her own ranging from ages 16 to 27, Paloma has worked in childhood education for over 26 years and is an original staff member of the DRMS, joining us in 2012, when we first opened the school. When the pandemic hit, she took some time to be with her family for a year and was excited to rejoin our community again. Paloma has 15 years of experience working in Montessori primary classrooms and also obtained an Elementary Assistant’s Certification from the Washington Montessori Institute. We are thrilled that Paloma is currently completing her AMI Primary Montessori Training as she steps into a lead teaching role in the Sunflower classroom.
Paloma has worked with children of all ages in various capacities, including childcare, summer camp, recreation, dance, and other classroom settings. Originally from Peru, Paloma is a native Spanish speaker who enjoys music and the arts, teaching dance, cooking, and spending time with her family and her three little dogs.
One of Paloma’s favorite things about working with children in Montessori is seeing the absorbent mind of a child at work on a day-to-day basis, knowing that it transforms little ones into strong, independent, and empathetic human beings with the right guidance, opportunities, and understanding.
