The Del Ray Montessori School is a non-profit Montessori School located in the quaint Del Ray neighborhood of Alexandria, Virginia, we are associated and recognized by AMI/USA (Association Montessori International). Founded in 2011, we serve children ages 18 months through age 12 and their families in the DC metropolitan area.
Describe a Montessori education with one word: Independence
Janiah was born in Culpeper, Virginia but has been living in Northern Virginia for the past 10 years. She comes from a large family, which sparked her love for caring for children. Janiah has 4 years of experience in childhood education and has just started serving at The Del Ray Montessori School. Throughout Janiah’s career, she worked with children aged 6 weeks-4 years in the following capacity: tutor, nanny, assistant, lead teacher, and administrator. Prior to working at The Del Ray Montessori School, Janiah worked at Northern Virginia Academy as Lead Preschool Teacher and Administrator.
Janiah began studying early childhood education while in high school, where she was able to participate in co-op job opportunities at childcare facilities.
Janiah loves to sing and travel and enjoys spending time with her two young nieces, Juliana and Alaiya. She also has a bucket list of islands to which she looks forward to traveling one day!
