Parent-Infant Class

The Del Ray Montessori School periodically offers Parent-Infant classes for parents and caregivers of children aged 6 weeks to 8 months. The class is offered at different times throughout the school year and offers parents and caregivers valuable insight into child development and how to support the amazing growth of their own child. Working side by side with a highly trained child-expert, parents receive ideas about activities to engage in with their child and tips for ways to interact and enjoy their unique child. The class becomes a small community where parents share questions and receive support while discussing child development from a Montessori perspective.

The class is set up in a way that replicates a home environment - all of the toys and activities are set up and available for the children to use with their caregiver guiding and supporting them. The featured materials are age appropriate and support the developing needs of the young child, with a special focus on movement, communication, and emotional growth.

The class is led by a certified AMI trained child-development specialist and is offered generally on Friday or Saturday mornings from 9-10:30am. Topics that are highlighted are: healthy sleep habits, nutrition, supporting independence, supporting emotional development, providing stimulating language experiences, encouraging socialization, weaning, and preparing your home environment to meet your child’s needs at every stage of development through age 3.
