The Del Ray Montessori School is a non-profit Montessori School located in the quaint Del Ray neighborhood of Alexandria, Virginia, we are associated and recognized by AMI/USA (Association Montessori International). Founded in 2011, we serve children ages 18 months through age 12 and their families in the DC metropolitan area.
Resource Specialist
Katie has 15 years of experience in early childhood education and intervention, and four years serving as the Resource Specialist at The Del Ray Montessori School. Katie has thoroughly enjoyed seeing the full capacity of a child’s ability to develop a sense of self, independence, and wonder through the lens of a Montessori education since beginning her work at DRMS. Throughout Katie’s career, she has worked with children of all ages and all abilities as a pediatric occupational therapist. Prior to working at The Del Ray Montessori School, Katie worked in a variety of public and private schools, clinics and home based settings providing pediatric occupational therapy services.
Katie has training in the Orton Gillingham literacy approach, Positive Discipline, Zones of Regulation, Social Thinking, Handwriting Without Tears, Brain Gym, sensory processing disorders, psychiatric rehabilitation, SEE sign language, mindfulness, executive functioning, and has a certificate in Early Intervention.
When not at DRMS, Katie loves to be warm and in the sun, and seeks exploration of unspoiled beaches whenever possible.
